What is your first fashion memory?
It has to be trying on my grandma’s rings when I was about 10 years old and thinking how fabulous she was!
How the idea for the brand was born?
The idea was born during my freshman year of college. I saw a beautiful woman in a huge statement scarf walk past me. My head turned and I realized that I never would have stopped and stared without the huge scarf. I realized there was a gap on the market for scarves that could be more than just practical – Scarves that could be a statement accessories for ladies to invest in just as they do a shoe or handbag!
How does your creative process look like?
It’s a mish mash of collecting trinkets, textures, colours and images which all work towards the final goal or collection.
What inspires you?
Pretty much anything although I always gravitate towards objects with bold, bright and interesting texture.
Who is your muse?
Iris Apfel… but I’m pretty sure she’s every woman’s muse!
How do you image a woman wearing your designs?
Just like I wear them myself – slung over jeans and a t-shirt or draped over the shoulder with a little black dress. The great thing about accessories is that they instantly lift or rejuvenate old looks. I want my accessories to be worn by the lady of all ages, with no sizing – we don’t discriminate!
What is your dream project?
My dream project would be designing alongside a major fashion house – isn’t that every young designer’s dream?
Your brand was inspired by Paris. What is it about the city that made you think of launching an accessory label?
Paris is littered with beauties in lots of neutral shades is it the accessories that stand out in the crowd! Paris is the most beautiful city! For me, it has to be my favourite city in the world – best bread, best people watching, best fashion, best everything!
Many of your accessories are multi-functional. Do you think practicality should be fashion’s priority?
I like my designs to be worn deskside to night time – I think every woman looks for pieces to lift their outfit from day to night, or rejuvenate old looks.
Do you think faux-fur stands a chance to replace genuine fur completely?
Of course! I think faux fur is no longer taboo or the lesser choice. Faux fur is equally as soft, smooth and warm! I love travelling to see my factories and seeing first-hand the amazing developments they are making.
Do you plan to grow a ready-to-wear line?
No, I’m set on expanding my offering of accessories. Accessories are what I really love and wish to be known for. I still think there is so much more that can be explored in the world of accessories I don’t feel I’m done here just yet!
